Following the performance of her Broadway Show in New York with the cast of The Color Purple, Jennifer Hudson performed Prince’s song “Purple Rain” to pay tribute to the late singer. The actress and her co-star Cynthia Erivo sang their heart out for the legend who passed away yesterday.
“Not too long ago, [Prince] called me while we were here and asked me to come out to this event because he was writing his book and he told me you can bring your cast members along,” Jennifer said. “We were honored to be in his presence one last time and we got to have that moment.”
“He said his music will live on and he will live through his music so we want to keep him alive today with this song,” Jennifer added. His music will live on, indeed.
