Bill Gates is No Longer the Richest Man in the World
The one who put Bill Gates in second place is Jeff Beznos, a man who started off as an online book seller, and who is now the CEO of Amazon. Well, his moment of glory was only temporary since Gates jumped back to first place a few hours ago.
According to Forbes, Bezos dethroned the co-founder of Microsoft when his net worth reached $90 billion Thursday morning, but that didn’t last long. On the same day, the Amazon founder’s stock price decreased by less than 2%, putting Gates back to his initial place, the same place he has been in since 2013.
However, the Amazon billionaire isn’t planning to waste his money on luxury. Last month, Beznos shared on social media that he wanted to help society in any way he can, and asked his followers for ideas. "I'm thinking I want much of my philanthropic activity to be helping people in the here and now – short term – at the intersection of urgent need and lasting impact," he wrote.
