Surprisingly, the two stars of Hollywood Ben Stiller and Susan Sarandon were spotted in Beirut. The reason why they came? It was simply to assist the screening of Soufra at the Beirut Digital District with Al Fanar; in case you did not know, the story of the documentary film is quite an impressive one. Among the guests, Nadine Labaki, a proudly Lebanese director, was spotted sitting front row too.

Al Fanar, as mentioned on their website, is “The Arab world’s first venture philanthropy organisation.” behind this wonderful organisation stands a social entrepreneur Mariam Al Shaar, and a team of ladies from the Women’s Programs Association in Lebanon’s Burj Al Barajneh refugee camp. This organisation’s success led the team to launch the first foodtruck owned completely by women refugees in Lebanon. But this is not it, the list of success is endless and the progress never stops. Don’t we need more activists like them?
