The Master of Body Language

Tame your hands for better confidence.
August 31, 2018

Are you one of those people who are petrified by the idea of speaking in public, being judged by others, being noticed or all of the above? We have a way for you to give out a whole other vibe, one that tells people that you’re the most confident person in the room, and only with the help of your hand position! Those are the ‘power poses’ you should use to look instantly more self-assured.

Arms behind your back

You know when you’re in a weird standing social conversation and you don’t know what to do with your hands? Just put them behind your back with one hand holding the other wrist. This position shows that you’re relaxed, and not a single thing can take you out of the “zone”. But don’t do this when you’re holding something, because then, what’s supposed to look cool will look… just weird!

Do the steeple

No, this is not a dance move even though it very much sounds like it. This is the perfect body language for work meetings. What you have to do is put your hands in front of your abdomen in a triangle form with your fingertips touching. Do this, and you’ll instantly look like a powerful, influential person that everyone will take seriously.

Keep an ‘open’ posture

An open posture shows that you’re open to the person you’re interacting with, and most importantly, that you have nothing to be afraid of. When you’re in a sitting position, don’t cross your hands or close your fists because it will look like you have something to hide and that you’re uncomfortable. Instead, sit in a relaxed position by opening your legs just a little bit and putting your hands on the chair. It’s like you’re telling the other person “I’m an open book, you can trust me”.
